Lindsey Lohan does a great job
I love Bret Easton Ellis, the novelist, but have been a little disappointed in the editing of his film adaptions. This is mostly because the gay and bisexual themes are edited out completely or scaled back. It is good to see this NOT happen in this movie. Lohan was believable in this part and I have seen some really bad work by her in the past 3 years. James Deen was also very good. Van Sant is passable I guess. The gay "producer" in the movie is terrible, though. Overall I found the story very interesting.

Paul Schrader's "The Canyons" plays out as a cautionary tale of producers & actors ambitions gone awry. Porn star James Deen is Christian, an obsessed film executive producer. Sex is used as the main tool to enact corrective enforcement from Christian as well as Tara. Using this same device, struggling actor Ryan realizes that he must go above and beyond the call of duty if he's to save his principal role in Christian's film. What is to be determined by the protagonists who engage in very sultry...
